The iPhone’s Impact? June 15, 2007
Posted by geoliv in : General , trackbackNext week will be a blast in Chicago. Live-blogging an event like NXTComm will be thrilling, and at the same time, quite the challenge. It really seems to be ideal for the media form. I look forward to it.
Bouncing around the blogosphere, I’ve noticed quite a bit of love for the iPhone. It’s amazing to see the amount of hype and excitement created by this device months and weeks before its launch.
In some cases the noise has become so loud, it’s repelling bloggers. Some are even calling it a disruptive technology. It’s already spurring competition from traditional players, like the Treo.
But is it good for the industry? One would have to say so. And it’s rich set of features really highlights the impact convergence has made on telecom. And it’s driving equipment sales, broadband usage, new applications and integration between computers, mobile, landline and broadband.
One hopes the industry can capture some of the wisdom and experience of the marketing phenom known as Steven Jobs. That would be the best result, that this moment becomes more than a blip in the 2007 calendar, and the industry becomes savvier in its ability to create consumer excitement.
See you at NXTcomm!
